Karmanos Cancer Institute at McLaren Greater Lansing – Celebrating 2 Years!
In 2022, McLaren Greater Lansing, the Karmanos Cancer Institute, and MSU Health Care joined forces to reshape the landscape of cancer care in Lansing. The Karmanos Cancer Institute at McLaren Greater Lansing officially opened its doors on February 28, 2022, bringing together the collective expertise of these renowned institutions.
This partnership was designed to elevate patient care, attracting top-tier clinicians to the region, providing access to cutting-edge therapies and advanced telemedicine technology, and fostering collaborative research initiatives. The center is dedicated to personalized patient care offering a range of support services such as massage and music therapy, nutrition counseling, and financial assistance.
The new cancer center has become the home for radiation oncology, medical oncology and hematology, and an infusion center. Additionally, it houses the MSU at McLaren Greater Lansing Breast Imaging Center, which provides a comprehensive range of services including screening, biopsies, and surgical and reconstructive procedures. The facility’s design supports a multidisciplinary approach to care, with larger exam rooms enabling patients to consult with multiple clinicians simultaneously.
“By collaborating with Karmanos, the residents of greater Lansing now have access to an increased number of clinical trial opportunities,” said Jatin Rana, MSU Health Care hematologist and oncologist and medical director for the Karmanos Cancer Institute at McLaren Greater Lansing. “This will include MSU investigator-initiated studies, the Big Ten Cancer Research Consortium clinical trials and Karmanos’s clinical trials.”
