We are thrilled to announce the launch of the Palliative Care Certificate Program, a collaboration between MOQC, our Palliative Care and End-of-Life Task Force, and the Center to Advance Palliative Care (CAPC). CAPC is a recognized leader in enhancing palliative care nationwide, offering healthcare providers the resources, training, and support needed to improve care for patients facing serious illnesses.
The first cohort of the program will include 15 prescribing providers (PAs and NPs) from MOQC practices, with up to three spots reserved for practitioners serving tribal communities and/or working with Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs).
Program Highlights:
The virtual training, led by CAPC, will cover a range of essential topics:
- Assessing the needs and concerns of patients and caregivers
- Strengthening the patient-clinician relationship and understanding care goals
- Non-pain symptom management
- Pain management
- Preventing crises and planning ahead
The program will be conducted in two phases, May-July and October-December. It will culminate in a Capstone project in December. To graduate, participants will need to complete pre- and post-training assessments and attend orientation and live virtual clinical discussions.
We look forward to supporting our participants in this exciting opportunity to advance their expertise in palliative care.
