As you read this, the fronds of ferns and the tips of Symplocarpus foetidus (somewhat unappealingly also called “skunk cabbage”) are pushing through the earth in the forest where I live in southeast Michigan. We can’t see them or hear these harbingers of spring, but spring is indeed coming. Change often happens before we are aware of its arrival.
In my experience, our relationship to change is complicated. Of course, as a quality improvement collaborative, MOQC embraces change—change in how things are done in service of our practices (you) and your patients and caregivers. In collaboration with you, we are continuously challenging what we think we know, experimenting with different ways of doing things, reflecting on and revising our work in service of quality and value.
Change can also disrupt those things we thought we could count on. We can be thrown into uncertainty. We are, without a doubt, living in times of volatility and uncertainty. Just like our patients who embark upon treatment or who live with no evidence of disease, what will happen tomorrow is not known.
Whether working towards positive, regenerative change or living under disruptive change (or both),
our individual and collective commitment to our purpose of supporting you and your team is unfailing. Our core values of trust, integrity, compassion, collaboration, and growth mindset serve as our anchor. And we know that you are also exemplifying these values. We see this in our visits to your practices,
your leadership during our meetings, and in the excellent care you provide to your patients.
MOQC continues to pursue our strategic objective of offering the most value to you and your practices as well as the highest value in oncology care. We continue to center equity so that every patient gets the best care regardless of who they are or where they live. And fostering the development of your teams and our community has never been more important than it is now.
Read on to see how we’re doing this. Thanks, as always, for being a part of MOQC.
