From Our Program Director

Having just wrapped up our June 2025 biannual meeting, I am again struck by the community that we’ve built across MOQC. The ways in which you all engage with one another, regardless of practice or practice type, are what makes MOQC what it is today and what will make us better tomorrow than we are today.

What does it take to build the kind of community that we have in MOQC? I think there are 3 main ingredients—trust, dignity, and a shared purpose.

Over the past 16 years, the trust we’ve established in MOQC has led to honest conversations about the challenges we and our patients face, the ways in which our measures reflect high quality care (or perhaps don’t, in which case we stop measuring them), the ways you’ve succeeded in improving quality across practices, and the resources you need to give your patients the best care possible. We see how you work within and across practices to provide this care and to learn from one another.

Dignity is the inherent worth or value that we all have regardless of our job title or degrees, our station in life, our age, or any other characteristic. The ways in which you treat your team members, your patients and their caregivers, and one another shows how much dignity is at play in MOQC. The engagement we’ve seen at meetings continues to grow, and our performance measures show that your work has paid off. Clearly, our work itself also has dignity.

Finally, community is built when we all share a common purpose. Improving the care for patients and their loved ones by supporting your teams is your clear reason to be part of MOQC—we hear this when you record a testimonial, when you speak up to ask a question during a meeting, and when you talk with one another in meetings both virtual and in person.

Every single person in the MOQC coordinating center is driven to create this community and the resources you need to achieve our purpose.

I’ll be on sabbatical from September through the end of March, and I’m grateful to have this community to return to, which I know will continue to thrive in my temporary absence. I am confident that the important work we do together will continue unabated.

Have a wonderful summer,
