Lynn Henry, MD, PhD
Lynn Henry, MD, PhD joined MOQC as the Associate Director of Clinical Initiatives. Dr. Henry is a renowned oncologist and expert in clinical quality improvement. She was the Program Director of the Michigan Breast Oncology Quality Initiative (MiBOQI) and spearheaded efforts to enhance breast cancer care quality across Michigan, focusing on guideline implementation, Oncotype DX testing, an the dissemination of best practices. Dr. Henry is a Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Michigan and until recently served as the Interim Division Chief of Hematology/Oncology. She is the associate director for community outreach and engagement at the Rogel Cancer Center. Nationally, Dr. Henry has contributed as Co-Chair of the Southwest Oncology Group (SWOG) Symptom Management and Survivorship Committee and served on various panels and committees within the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). A prolific scholar, Dr. Henry has authored over 160 peer-reviewed publications, shaping standards of care in side effect management, endocrine therapy adherence, and the development of quality metrics. Her approach to quality improvement emphasizes collaboration, data-driven decision-making, and patient-centered care.
Lydia Benitez, PharmD, BCOP
Lydia Benitez, PharmD, BCOP joined MOQC as the Director of POEM and Oncology Stewardship. Dr. Benitez is a board-certified Hematology/Oncology PharmD & Clinical Associate Professor at University of Michigan College of Pharmacy. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Doctor of Pharmacy degree from University of Michigan, and she completed her Residency experience in Pharmacy Practice and Oncology at Michigan Medicine. She practiced as a malignant hematology and transplant pharmacy specialist at University of Kentucky (UKY) Healthcare from 2016-2018. She joined Michigan Medicine in 2018 as a Leukemia outpatient clinical specialist and gained a clinical faculty appointment at the College of Pharmacy in 2020. Her clinical experience focuses on increasing and optimizing outpatient delivery of leukemia and malignant hematology therapies and practicing stewardship including involvement in national guidelines for management of acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Her scholar interests include the appropriate use of therapeutics in oncology and malignant hematology, building a framework for oncology stewardship, and the management of leukemia in adolescent young adults. She is actively involved in the Hematology Oncology Pharmacist Association (HOPA) where she leads a committee focused on developing practice outcomes and benchmarking for oncology pharmacists. She is a founding member and active leader within the Hematology Research Outcomes Consortium (HERO) which utilizes real world evidence to improve understanding of the value of therapeutics in the malignant hematology space.
Jacob Keer, Intern
Jacob Keer received his bachelor’s degree from UCLA in Anthropology. He went on to be a language acquisition specialist in Barcelona, Spain, while simultaneously completing research in the anthropological field of ethnobotany and paleopathology. This research exemplifies the interdisciplinary use of plant medicine in ancient Peru and is currently under review for publication. He is pursuing his master’s degree in social work with a macro focus in Management and Leadership.
Joseph McIntyre, Intern
Joey McIntyre is a Master of Social Work candidate at the University of Michigan, concentrating on Program Evaluation and Applied Research. He holds a BBA from Western Michigan University and a BSW from Eastern Michigan University.
His experience includes recovery support and peer coaching in correctional and community-based treatment settings, and a social work internship with Michigan Medicine’s Guest Assistance Program serving pediatric oncology, hematology, and bone marrow transplant patients and families. His professional interests center on research evaluation, evidence-based practice, and advancing patient-centered outcomes in oncology care.
