Welcome.

I hope that by visiting our website you are interested in learning more about the Michigan Oncology Quality Consortium (MOQC)and possibly joining our group of oncology practices who work together to improve the quality of oncology care across the state of Michigan.

MOQC was launched in 2009 and is part of the Value Partnership Program of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM). We are one of twenty collaboratives that collect and share data (from hospitals or practices or both) to design and implement changes that improve outcomes of complex, technical areas of care.

This year is a year of change for us and our practices – similar to what is being experienced by all oncology practices transitioning to Medicare’s Quality Payment Plan (QPP) and its programs called MIPS (the Merit-Based Incentive Payment) or ACMs (Advanced Alternative Care Models).

We are working on selecting the best quality measures in oncology care, identifying ways to collect data from patient records, and analyzing data in a way that it is most meaningful for physicians and practices. Finally, submitting this information to payers efficiently will increase turnaround time for reimbursement.

At MOQC, we have begun to evaluate how and what we offer and if the services we deliver provide the right value to our oncology physicians and clinical teams who work in today’s high-production, potentially stressful environments. We are also engaging patients and caregivers to make sure the patient remains at the center of our quality improvement efforts.

This website is one of many changes you will see with MOQC. We continue to engage with practices as we strive to provide real-time comparative data, abstraction support, and quality improvement resources in ways that are relevant and user-friendly to improve performance in whatever setting our clinical teams find themselves providing care to cancer patients.

We hope that that our vision—to be the best state in the nation for cancer care—will become the reality for any Michigan resident who is diagnosed with cancer and receives their care here.

Please feel free to contact me or any members of our team if you are interested in learning more about MOQC.
